Leaderboards are done!

I finished coding the Outbreak leaderboards today! I'm very excited to see how this plays next version. For the first time in 6 years Mutant Factions will have a legitimate single-player game mode. Up until now Mutant Factions has been 100% multiplayer and had zero purpose without others online. But now this all changes! These leaderboards give you something to do, a clear objective, and a way to compete with others even when no one else is online.

This will be a great stepping stone for attracting new players. Not only will they be guaranteed a game regardless of how many others are online, but they can do so competitively without getting slaughtered by veterans in PvP modes. These leaderboards aren't meant to replace PvP, but they will complement it by getting more players online and more newbies engaged with the game. I still need to create a proper single-player experience, but these leaderboards should be a sweet addition and make co-op Outbreak a whole lot more fun now!

The way it will work is there will be 40 leaderboards all up. 10 official maps, and 4 "leagues" per map. Each league is defined by the number of players. So you can play solo, 2 player, 3 player, or 4+ players. You then try to beat the best time in that league. It's standard Outbreak survival rules, so you need to destroy all the bombs as fast as you can without dying. When you successfully finish the map your time will be added to that leaderboard! If you top the leaderboard or place highly (like top 10 for example) then you'll receive bonus experience too!

I'm really excited to see how this works out. In addition to adding these leaderboards I've reworked how Outbreak works in some serious ways and made it a lot more challenging and fun. Cash and mana are limited resources now, zombie difficulty scales up and gets more and more intense, and I've rebalanced chemicals, weapons, skills and vehicles so everything has a place. There are so many strategies and ways to win now, and I'm really curious to see WHAT strategy will actually work best. Someone might set a new record and you'll just have NO IDEA how they got such a fast time, until you discover a new strategy of Force Fields, Grenades, Sonar Cells and Loafers that lets you take the new lead. Should be good!

Indeed it does, but it has a slow rate of fire and next version only 30 bullets. Will it do the trick?? Only you can decide, but setting the unbeatable best time ;)
